The Greek Files is an investigation into the loose ends of the Greek world: what the stones say, what the ancient writers said about them, and where the two stop agreeing.
I'm J E Cowie. No classics degree, no dig site, just a habit of reading the source instead of the caption underneath it.
Each case file takes one claim, sets out the evidence on both sides and reaches a verdict. Usually one the tidy version of the story doesn't enjoy. The rule I hold myself to: this only works if it's more rigorous than what it's picking apart. Anything presented as evidence is real and publicly sourced. Any AI-generated material is atmosphere only, reconstruction and not evidence, and it's labelled. If a claim can't be backed with a source, it doesn't go in the file.
The first case file is in production. News pieces land in between. More soon.
